KXRO reports the increased export activity created more than one hundred FTE longshore jobs for handling the cargo.Port of Grays Harbor Commissioner, Jack Thompson, and Executive Director, Gary Nelson were in Minnesota to receive Minnesota Soybean’s 2012 International Marketing Committee Partner of the Year Award.
Minnesota Soybean, which represents more than 25,000 soybean farmers across Minnesota, selected the Port for helping increase Ag Processing Inc’s export tonnage of soybean products over the past eight years.
In 2012, a record setting 1.69 million metric tons of soybean products were exported through the Port to markets including China, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Australia. The increased export activity created more than one hundred FTE longshore jobs [ILWU Local 24] for handling the cargo.

The Port of Hueneme, above, has hired the same marketing company that assisted the Port of Tacoma.The Port of Hueneme is moving ahead with a marketing effort using a communications and brand strategy company that made its first presentation to the Oxnard Harbor Commission on Monday night.
The commission, which oversees the port, is spending up to $100,000 to have Seal Beach-based marketing firm brandStrata revise its image in an effort to make it more competitive.
BrandStrata handled a similar project for the Port of Tacoma in Washington. The Port of Hueneme’s effort will take about two years, according to Will Berg, the port’s director of marketing.
