Port of Hueneme's auto cargo operating revenues were especially strong in fiscal 2012, rising nearly 18 percent to $6.6 million. Revenues for fresh produce were up 7.4 percent, to $2.9 million.
The Port of Hueneme’s total revenues reached a record $12.2 million for fiscal year 2012, according to an annual audit delivered this week to the Oxnard Harbor Commission.
“We’re very pleased to report that we had our best revenue year in history and our fourth best cargo year in history,” Kristin Decas, Oxnard Harbor District executive director, told her board Monday.
Port officials think they’ve shaken the recessionary doldrums that began in fiscal 2007, when revenues began slipping, but warn that they must keep an eye on the budget because of upcoming capital improvement projects. For example, they must start funding $4.5 million for a land-based power system mandated by the state to reduce pollution.

Consolidated Chassis Management operates six regional cooperative pools. The trend follows a similar method that is used in Europe and Asia, where chassis are provided by truckers, forwarders or shippers.Memphis-based IMC Companies has purchased more than 1,500 intermodal chassis from OOCL, which the company will put into Consolidated Chassis Management’s Mid-South cooperative pool.
The move continues a trend in the disengagement of chassis ownership and operation by container ship lines in the U.S. market. More motor carriers are beginning to take more of the responsibility for containers.

The trend follows a similar method that is used in Europe and Asia, where chassis are provided by truckers, forwarders or shippers.
Consolidated Chassis Management is co-owned by 18 container ship lines, and operates six regional cooperative pools.
Chairman Mark H. George said in announcing the deal. “Simply said, the cooperative’s desire would be to replace ocean carrier or other owning entities’...

From the Maritime Union of Australia’s web site:
West Australian Transport Minister, Troy Buswell, needs to take the time to learn the basic facts about the dispute between workers at Fremantle Port and their employer before making incorrect claims about the merits of workers’ claims.
MUA Assistant National Secretary, Ian Bray, said lives have been lost on the waterfront in recent times, including a tragic fatality only days ago in Newcastle, and the safety of workers needs to be prioritised.
“The Minister would do well to investigate the concerns of workers to avoid further fatalities on the Australian waterfront,” Mr Bray said.
“The MUA makes no apologies for working to deliver safety for workers on the waterfront.
“Minister Buswell is making false claims that workers are seeking a 20 per cent increase in wages in addition to the changed roster but that is incorrect and is a complete misrepresentation of the workers’ claims.
“For Minister Buswell, a senior Minister in the West Australian Government, to get basic facts incorrect about the workers’ concerns indicates either incompetence or a decision to misrepresent the truth.
“Instead...

Direct ChassisLink, Inc. will become a participant and chassis contributor to Consolidated Chassis Management, LLC’s Chicago and Ohio Valley Consolidated Chassis Pool and Gulf Consolidated Chassis Pool, the companies announced yesterday.
DCLI, which currently owns or leases approximately 66,000 chassis, will join other non-ocean carrier equipment providers, like leasing companies, third-party logistics providers and motor carriers, who collectively contribute to CCM pools.
