Pendleton Grain Growers is restructuring, getting out of the retail and automotive business in order to focus on member needs and improve profitability.
The Pendleton, Ore., grain cooperative recently announced restructuring plans, including efforts to sell its six AG Supply
Retail division stores in northeastern Oregon and the Pendleton Automotive Service Center.
The co-op has 1,850 members. After struggling for several years, the cooperative decided to hone in on where the business thrives, considering ways to increase efficiency for members.

The 12 countries involved in the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade negotiations launched a fresh round of talks Monday with
expectations for progress as Japan and the United States move closer to resolving thorny bilateral issues.
Their chief negotiators began the four-day meeting in Ho Chi Minh City and will follow it up with a ministerial gathering in Singapore from May 19 to 20.
The TPP members failed to reach a broad agreement at their last ministerial session in February in Singapore due to Japan-U.S.
bickering over market access for farm products and autos — their biggest sticking points.

Starting next month, it’s going to cost a little more to ship with Matson.
The navigation company is raising its fuel surcharge by 3-percentage points for Hawaii service beginning on June 8. Matson is also raising the fuel surcharge for its Guam, Marianas and Micronesia service by 1.5-percentage points.
Matson says the company will continue to monitor fuel prices and adjust the surcharge accordingly.
