The Port of Hampton Roads set a single-month record in July for the number of cargo containers moved, the Virginia Port Authority announced Friday.
Hampton Roads moved 205,137 standard 20-foot units, or TEUs, a 13.7 percent increase from July 2012.
“The number of ship calls is down merely because we’re getting larger vessels,” said Joe Harris, a Port Authority spokesman, adding that he expected that trend to continue.
