APM Terminals has received the first two of a total of 26 automated rail-mounted gantry cranes (ARMGs) for its new terminal at Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte II.
The world’s largest terminal operator has also announced that the first phase of civil construction works at the site have been completed paving the way for the installation of the facility’s state-of-the-art container handling equipment.
The 30-meter wide ARMGs will use a fully automated system to load and unload containers onto and off of truck chassis and onto a fleet of 37 battery-powered Lift Automated Guided Vehicles (Lift AGVs), which are scheduled for delivery in June of this year.
