French ocean carrier CMA CGM has agreed to sell a 49 percent stake in its Terminal Link ports unit to China Merchants Holdings for 400 million euros ($540 million).
The companies said they expect to close on the deal, which is subject to several regulatory approvals, in the first half of 2013.
Terminal Link is the world’s 12th-largest container terminal operator, handling 8.1 million 20-foot-equivalent units in 2011.

Saying they already had the perfect candidate in front of them, Port of Kalama Commissioners promoted longtime employee Mark Wilson to port executive director Wednesday. He will replace Lanny Cawley, who is retiring March 31.
Wilson, 46, is the current deputy director and will become director on April 1.
Commissioners discussed doing a state or national search for new director, as the Port of Longview recently did. They also noted they’d already received unsolicited resumes for the jobs since Cawley’s retirement announcement.
