The 9,700 TEU capacity vessel is equipped with 2,100 reefer plugs, making these the largest reefer capacity ships in the global fleet.On July 25th the largest vessel to ever call the Port of Buenos Aires, the 332 meter-long Hamburg Süd Cap San Nicholas, discharged approximately 800 containers at the APM Terminals Terminal 4 facility.
The Cap San Nicholas is the first of six of the Cap San class vessels which will be introduced into Hamburg Süd’s Asia/South Africa/East Coast South American route. Terminal 4 was the first APM Terminals facility located in the southern hemisphere, when privatized in 2000.

An incinerator on the Japan-bound Great Success ‘posed a significant fire hazard,’ and a fire door that could not be opened from the inside, leaving crew members with no way to exit the room in the event of a fire.
The Coast Guard has detained a 553-foot freighter at the Port of Longview after discovering that it had numerous safety violations that posed significant fire danger, the agency announced Friday.
The inspectors Tuesday ordered the vessel to remain at anchor in Longview until the ship’s crew have addressed the violations, Littlejohn said. Among the problems discovered were excessive oil and water in the bilges, excessive oil in the engine room, and oil-saturated insulation throughout the engine room.
A leaking emergency fire pump was flooding the fire pump room, and all three generators and the boiler had active oil leaks, causing oil to pool beneath the equipment.
